Job Description
We are looking for a Cobol Developer to support the maintenance and evolution of a portfolio of COBOL and Java applications within a complex information system.
The role is part of a Third-Party Application Maintenance (TMA) environment, focused on:
Data quality and consistency Regulatory compliance Reliability of critical data flows Service continuity for business-critical systems
TMA activities typically include corrective, evolutive, and preventive maintenance of applications while ensuring performance and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
1. Technical Leadership
Act as the technical reference across the RFOS application landscape (batch processing, services, UIs, sub-programs). Ensure consistency of the hybrid COBOL/Java architecture. Provide technical guidance and mentoring to developers (best practices, code reviews, complex components). Serve as a key technical escalation point for maintenance and regulatory evolution topics. Lead continuous improvement initiatives (performance, quality, maintainability).
2. Development & Maintenance
Lead and contribute to corrective and evolutive maintenance activities. Work on business-critical components, including: Daily batch import/export processing Data exposure through Web Services Management and consultation user interfaces Reference data, contracts, and nomenclature modules Ensure the robustness and performance of batch processes, which typically handle large volumes of data in scheduled automated runs. Contribute to technical debt reduction within a large legacy application landscape. Analyze and troubleshoot incidents across production systems.
3. Quality, Testing & Industrialization
Define and implement testing strategies (component, integration, and data flow testing). Secure batch processing (restart mechanisms, controls, monitoring). Improve and maintain industrialization processes (scheduling, shell scripts, Unix tooling). Ensure data quality, traceability, and consistency across systems. Manage and control sensitive data flows and reconciliation processes. Contribute to the design and evolution of Web Services for data exposure. Perform technical impact analyses related to regulatory changes.
4. Collaboration
Work closely with: Operations teams Testing teams Business stakeholders (MOA) Participate actively in incident resolution, including data-related production incidents. Ensure alignment across multiple interconnected systems and external data repositories (e.g., healthcare registries or national datasets).
Accountability:
Ensure the technical and functional quality of RFOS applications. Secure critical data flows and reference data systems. Proactively contributes to technical and organizational improvements. Maintain high-quality documentation (technical, functional, operational).
