Requirements & Skills
Position Summary:
We are looking for an experienced Mainframe - Application Support specialist with less than 10 years of hands-on expertise in COBOL, JCL, DB2, CICS & VSAM to support Billing Applications. The ideal candidate should be open to learning new technologies and AI tools.
Mandatory Technical skills:
Language: Cobol
Operating System and Tools: z/OS, JCL, TSO
Databases: DB2, VSAM
Transaction Processing: CICS, MQ
Analysis and Data Evaluation: Analytical skills include evaluating data and information, identifying trends and patterns, and drawing logical conclusions. Knowing how to evaluate data will help keep track of the mainframe’s expected and actual performance. This allows our developers to spot potential problems and offer ideas to repair transactions and improve performance. Tools & Utilities: Expert skills in debugging and troubleshooting tools such as FileAid, Xpeditor, Abend-Aid Production Control: Experience with batch scheduling tools
Good to have skills: Java, WebSphere, Azure, Automation, AI skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Incident & system error management - respond to alerts, user reported issues, triage problems, troubleshooting and resolve incidents quickly to minimize disruption Problem root cause analysis & remediation Monitor and manage Production, QA and T batch networks Application monitoring Maintain documentation (KPI's, training / knowledge-based documents, runbooks) Investigate root causes for recurring functional issues and propose preventive actions. Maintain detailed incident logs, RCA (Root Cause Analysis) documents, and functional SOPs. Communication: Establish a working relationship with IT development teams (upstream and downstream), business stakeholders, and infrastructure teams and in some cases, end-users. Provide timely updates to users and stakeholders on incident status and resolution. Participate in modernization initiatives and explore integration with new technologies and AI tools
Qualifications:
Less than 10 years of experience in mainframe application support (DB2, COBOL, JCL, CICS, VSAM) Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies, including AI tools Recommended: Java, WebSphere, Azure Excellent communication and teamwork abilities Experience in insurance domain is a plus
