Senior Delivery Consultant – Mainframe, AWS Professional Services

The Amazon Web Services Professional Services (ProServe) team is seeking an experienced Senior Delivery Consultant — Mainframe Modernisation to join our team. In this role, you'll work closely with enterprise customers to assess, design, and deliver mainframe migration and modernisation solutions on AWS. You'll be a key player in driving customer success through complex legacy transformation journeys, providing deep technical expertise in mainframe technologies and modern cloud-native architectures throughout the project lifecycle.

Possessing a strong understanding of mainframe platforms (z/OS, COBOL, JCL, CICS, DB2, IMS) alongside AWS products and services, you will be proficient in architecting modernisation pathways — whether replatforming, refactoring, or re-engineering — tailored to meet the specific needs of each customer.

Key job responsibilities: -Leading the assessment and discovery of customer mainframe estates, including application portfolio analysis, dependency mapping, and modernisation readiness evaluation -Designing and implementing modernisation solutions on AWS — including replatforming, refactoring to cloud-native services, and automated code transformation approaches -Providing deep technical guidance on mainframe technologies (COBOL, PL/I, JCL, CICS, IMS, DB2, VSAM) and their AWS equivalents throughout project delivery

- 5+ years of working with Enterprise Application Modernization and Migration technologies, including, but not limited to, Mainframe, Serverless, Containers, or Cloud Operations experience - 7+ years of experience working with mainframe technologies (z/OS, COBOL, PL/I, JCL, CICS, IMS, DB2, VSAM) - 3+ years of experience with AWS or equivalent cloud platform, particularly migration-related services (e.g., AWS Mainframe Modernization, DMS, SCT, Step Functions, Lambda) - Experience with mainframe modernisation patterns: replatforming (Micro Focus, Rocket), refactoring to cloud-native, or automated code transformation - Experience with database migration from mainframe systems (DB2, IMS, VSAM) to cloud-native databases (RDS, Aurora, DynamoDB)
