I DISPLAY 'HELLO' in COBOL. Job ends. Where do I look for HELLO?
People point me at SYSOUT but I have three SYSOUT DDs.

DISPLAY usually lands on SYSOUT or SYSLIST / the DD your runtime maps to stdout. In SDSF open the job, look at the step, open SYSOUT or JESMSGLG / JESx depending on shop.
If you have //SYSOUT DD SYSOUT=* that is often the one. Ask a coworker which DD your COBOL runtime uses for DISPLAY. It varies a bit.
On our shop DISPLAY goes to SYSOUT. Compiler listings are SYSPRINT. Do not mix them up when hunting messages.
