KSDS reorg - how many CI splits before you bother?

Ops wants thresholds for when to REPRO a big KSDS versus leaving it alone. LISTCAT shows CI and CA splits climbing on a few hot files.

I have heard reorg can make things worse if splits happened for a reason. What rules do you use?

We track splits plus elapsed time on the key paths. Blind reorg just because LISTCAT looks ugly burned us. FreESPACE on define matters more than constant REPRO.

If inserts land in the same key range every day, splits are doing their job. Reorg removes that space and you split again next week.
