Shop has a pile of Easytrieve reports. Is it another language I have to learn now, or can I stick to COBOL?

Report / extract language. Faster than COBOL for "read file, filter, print totals." Syntax is its own thing.
If your team maintains EZT, learn enough to read it. You do not need to master it before basic COBOL/JCL.

I still write COBOL for anything complex and Easytrieve for quick reports. Both stick around.
