IBM have a free Mainframe beginner course at https://www.ibm.com/products/z/resources/zxplore.
Click the "Getting Started" button and then at the bottom there's a link for "Need an account? Sign Up".
The course gets you set up with Mainframe access via VS Code and teaches you about Cobol.
If you have any questions or you are looking for something else just let us know.
